Check
out our new top 10 game movies listing
02/25/01 1:30 PM Eastern |
- I got
carried away and the list of 5 game trailers I planned for turned
out to be 10. I almost made it 15 with so many good game trailers
out there. I ranked the movies by audio, visual, and quality
content. I tried to rank them to my opinion but if you think I am
wrong, or if a better movie is missing please email
me. I might even put in a voting system. I also added a Random
movie link where I will try to add different movies often. The
list is on the left hand side of this page at the bottom. I ranked
Commandos 2 first because the whole movie is very well done. The
random movie is currently Battle of Britain, and I will try and
change once a week.
- The World
War II Online website has been updated with some nice new
information.

Top
5 game trailer section being added
soon
02/24/01 10:30 PM Eastern |
- Now that I have broadband access I get to see
more game trailers. So I am going to be adding the top 5 movies on
the lower left hand side of the main page here. In honor of that
new section, I bring you the next news item which is not
necessarily gaming news.
- Any Lord of the Rings
fans out there? Well for those of you who are, surely you were
disappointed to see the development of Middle Earth the PC game go
down the tubes. Middle Earth was based on the Lord of the Rings
book. For those of you who haven't read it, it is a classic. Well
we have some good news for you. The Lord of the Rings movies are
coming to a theatre near you starting this Christmas. It will be
a three part series with one movie premiering every
Christmas until 2003. Just to wet your appetite I am listing the
link for the movie
trailer which looks awesome! Here is the location of the official
site.
- Star
Wars Episode 1: Battle for Naboo has gone gold. They
also have a demo available on their site, and we added some cheat
codes to our site for the game already. Look for it in the stores
in the next couple of weeks. It has an expected ship date of March
5th.
- I am proud to say that one of our staff members
has been published on UO.com.
It is an in-game story about love that has passed on to the real
world. Don't miss the story of Galen
Wilding, and Midnight.
- A new online site launched today, and they asked me to post
this: Evihcra.com, is a free online archiving service to computer
gamers who either create their own game add-ons or want to
download and play using those game files. Check out their site at www.Evihcra.com.
- Europa
Universalis
is now on most store shelves. This game is winning towns of
awards. So if Civilization type strategy games are your thing,
check this one out.

Want
to own your own Golf resort?
02/21/01 8:10 PM Eastern |
- Ski Resort Tycoon has been a
popular title, at least by readers of this site. Well fans of the
game can look forward to the next game in the series, Golf Resort
Tycoon. You can see the new release date for this title and more
on our release dates section.
- Blade
of Darkness, Clive
Barker's Undying, and Icewind
Dale: Heart of
Winter all shipped today. Strategy
First also notified me that the very popular Europa
Universalis
also shipped today.
- EBworld.com
has
changed their name to EBgames.com
but
they will still be going by both names. They have been the leading
company that this site is affiliated with, and we look forward to
that continuing with their new name. They are currently running a
few nice deals.
- Oni
is on sale for only $27.99.
- Sudden
Strike is currently on sale with $5 off.
- If you buy any two
Activision games you get Tony Hawk's Pro
Skater 2 for free.
- If
you order Quake III Arena, you will get the Quake
III Team Arena expansion pack for free.
- Sorry
for the lack of news, it has been a hectic month. The good news is
that I got my cable modem after years of waiting so I at least
should take less lag time when I am updating the site. I am also always
looking for Volunteers
to work on the site. It is very good experience to have if you
hope for a future in the gaming industry.

Preview of Blade
of Darkness
posted
02/3/01 11:30 PM Eastern |
Strategy
First has announced a new game, Nexagon:
The Pit. It is expected to ship this fall. Check out the
screenshots they sent me on the right side.
- In my last post I said I purchased Airline
Tycoon, and I liked it. The
problem I was having was constant crashes when
accessing the
flight schedule. Tech support told me that I had the wrong
version. I had version 1.63, and they said the retail version
being sold should be 1.65. So I took it back and exchanged it for
another one. Guess what? It was version 1.63 too! So when I asked
them if a patch would be available their response was to return it
for a refund! Not to mention after playing it longer the game got
old fast. Just a warning to anyone interested in buying this
title.
- Talonsoft
has just announced two new titles, GI
Combat, and Star
Leader. GI Combat in particular looks quite impressive to
me,
but I am bias considering the fact I love World War II games. =)
- Galen latest work is a preview of Blade
of Darkness, and he says
"from the opening cinematic I was absolutely hooked!".
Check out his review here.
- Oni,
Age
of Sail II, Rowan's
Battle of Britain, and Sim
Coaster have all hit store shelves this past week.

Happy Super Bowl
Day!
01/28/01 4:30 PM Eastern |
- Go Giants!!! Not that we here at
CG.com would stoop so low as to endorse either team in tonight's
match but still, GO GIANTS!!! Now down to today's business.
- Police
Tactical Training, Airline
Tycoon, and the rightful US version of Sudden
Strike were all released this week. The Police
shooting game only takes place on a training level, with no real
street action, but is only around $20. I picked up Airline
Tycoon, and despite a few flaws it is very addicting!
If you like business simulations you will definitely want this
one. Best of all it is cheap, only $18.95
at Chips&Bits.
- Ok here is the deal on
Sudden
Strike. As you may know back in December I got excited
about Sudden Strike being on the shelves a month earlier in
Electronic's Boutique. That game was the UK version shipped from
Europe illegally or something like that. The point of the story is
EB should not have been selling it, and pulled it from their
shelves right away. As far as I can tell the only difference in
the US version is 5 extra missions, and the game will come already
patched. Strategy
First the rightful
publisher is sending me a US version, so I will be able to
compare. At first they said they would not give tech support to
people who got the illegal version. I complained, and they came
back and said they would help, but cannot guarantee to fix any
problems since the version is slightly different from theirs. I
found that suitable, and then confronted my local EB store
manager. He said he could not comment, and they would not be
willing to allow exchanges. So if you got the UK copy in December,
and want the US version raise heck with EB! I'll bet if you pushed
the issue you could get an exchange since EB was in the wrong.
- More news from Strategy
First, Europa
Universalis has gone Gold. It looks like a combination between
Civilization, and Ages of Empires. Check it out, it's getting
great reviews. Expect it to ship in late February.
- The latest review, Deus
Ex has been posted by Galen.
He says Deus Ex is "A very strong first person shooter".
Make sure you read the review though to find out why he didn't
give it a high score.

Rising, and has a
brand new web site which was just launched Monday. Antaeus
Rising is expected
to ship 4/15/01.
- The Operation
Flashpoint web site has been updated, and includes some great
new characters like this picture of the sniper on the right. This
is one of the more exciting games of 2001 that I'm looking forward
to.
- America
(a real time strategy game set in the
wild west), and Kingdom
Under Fire (a real
time strategy game with role-playing elements where you control
seven player characters). They have both shipped in the last two

ONI,
ONI, ONI!
01/08/01 11:15 PM Eastern |
- I
heard all the hype but didn't pay too much attention to Oni.
Last night I decided to give it a try and I installed the demo. My
only response is wow!
I played the game for at least two hours, and still didn't
complete the demo. It was tons of fun, and the game play is just
incredible. There are so many different moves, and types of
combat. Everything ran very smoothly on my PIII 450, and I had no
tech problems at all with the demo. My only complaint is the
keyboard controls were a little bit annoying. So I will probably
get this game on the PS2 instead of the PC {ducks to avoid thrown
objects from die hard computer gamers}. Don't miss this game, you
have to at least try the demo! You can get the demo here from PCGameworld.
Firaxis
has launched their new web site for Civilization III. The Civ to
beat all Civ games? Well this is Sid's company so chances are
good! New
Civilization III site.
- FREE
Stuff! I
thought that might get your attention. I have added a new section
to the Gamer's Forum. A message board where gamers can buy sell or
trade games and other items. I will also be listing numerous items
and prizes there that ComputerGamers.com will be giving away for free!
We are giving
away a free
official strategy guide for Diablo II right
now. Just go to the forum and post!
- I may
not be able to be updating as much as I would like in the next two
months. Unfortunately, Bill Gates has given me a cut off date
to pass my Microsoft NT exams to get my MCSE. So I only have
until February 28th! So if anyone knows of some good brain dump
sites please let me know! {starts to drown in a pile of Microsoft
study books}.

Everquest player commits
murder!
01/05/01 8:00 PM Eastern |
- An
Everquest player pled guilty in a Florida Courtroom Tuesday after
he killed his 9 month old son for disturbing him while playing
Everquest. Lawyers on both sides are saying that the game had
little to do with the crime. Read the full details on the Adrenaline
Vault.
- For those of you anticipating the
release of Dawn, Glitchless
has released new screenshots, motion videos, character renderings,
and music.
- We have removed Beyond.com as an
affiliate due to a lack of quality products, and customer
interest. Sorry for any inconvenience if you liked this vendor.
- Industry
Giant is the only new release this week. I have no clue why this
is being billed as a new release, since this game is several years
old. I bought it a year ago in the bargain bin for like $1.50.
It's now being sold for $19.99. The box doesn't appear to have
been updated, and it's unclear if there is any updates to the
game. Anyone who tries the game please let me know if there's
actually any improvements from the first Industry Giant.

Hitman:
Codename 47 review is
posted
01/03/01 4:00 PM Eastern |
- Galen's
latest review is for Hitman:
Codename 47. Galen says it is 'Be sure
to read his review. Reviews for Star Trek Deep Space 9: The
fallen, and Quake III team arena are on their way from Scott.
Stay tuned for those reviews.
- The moment
we have all been waiting for, well at least I have been waiting
for! US version of Sudden
Strike has gone gold. For those of you not lucky enough to
pick up the UK version like me, you should see it on store shelves
at the end of this month. Sudden
Strike has also teamed up with Gamespy,
so that you can meet other players and play Sudden Strike
multiplayer games on Gamespy.
If you get the game post on the Gamer's
Forum and I will be happy to play anytime.
- Someone
recently asked me what 'Gone Gold' means. It means the game is
finished being developed and is now in the process of being
duplicated, boxed up and shipped to retailers. That process
usually takes between about a week to a month. I hope that
explanation helped anyone I confused. :)
- I
would like to welcome all the web surfers coming from Yahoo, and
Google. I am proud to say that ComputerGamers.com
is often ranking in the top 5 out of 84,000 or more hits on
those sites! I want to give credit to my hard working wife Jenn
for the great work she has done on the cheats
section which is our most popular section, and thanks to the
rest of the ComputerGamers.com staff for their hard work!

friend has $6 million gold to sell, and is selling each million

- I hope
everyone had a happy holiday season and and a safe and happy new

busy holiday season. Plus there has not been a lot of gaming news
during the holidays. What time I have had to spend on the computer
has been working on a NEW web site that will be networked with
ComputerGamers.com. I hope to have the site active in the next
month or so.
