Tropico is now available                                             04/26/01 11:45 PM Eastern
  • The creators of Railroad Tycoon II have shipped their latest release Tropico, and it's in stores now. So far it is a lot of fun. I will try to have it reviewed by the end of next week. World at War also shipped yesterday. World at War is Rising Sun Gold, Europe in Flames, and Fall of the Reich combined.
  • Monday the baseball season starts for an online game called Simcoach.com. I will be playing starting Monday and doing a review of the game if anyone wishes to join me.
  • Strategy First will be publishing Steel Beasts to be sold in retail stores. Until now it was only available for sale from their web site. Steel Beasts is a hardcore modern day tank sim. If your a tank nut like me you will love the game, but it's not for the casual gamer.
  • Please go to Webtopsites.com and vote for us under the Computer Games : PC category. Thank you for your support.

Our email list will NOT be sold, or given to anyone else under any circumstances. The newsletter will go out every week, or every other week and will be sent out over the weekend. • I just wanted to welcome the floods of people coming here from Yahoo today. We are getting more hits today from Yahoo alone than most search engines have given us over the last year! We just submitted to Yahoo two weeks ago, and got added yesterday. It costs $199 to submit to Yahoo, which is why it took us so long to submit.

New Operation Flashpoint movies                                        04/12/01 10:45 PM Eastern
  • I saw two new movies, which are new to me at least for Operation Flashpoint. One shows true night time fighting which is seen for the first time. The other is in Windows media format, and plays like a summer movie preview. It looks great! Get the night time trailer here, and the excellent movie preview here, both from GamesDomain.com. I have no doubt that for me at least Operation Flashpoint will definitely be the game of the year!
  • I just wanted to give a little notice to Scott's Star Trek Bridge Commander clan, Battle Group: Omega. They added us to their site, and I wanted to give them a little recognition. Thanks guys.
  • Speaking of Scott! He says his review for Star Trek: Away Team will be ready to go tomorrow. So stay tuned for that. Not that I am putting any pressure on you Scott. =)
  • We are doing some renovations to the site. We are putting in a brand new state of the art message board system which I think everyone will love, and hopefully improve the activity of the board. So you may notice the forum up and down over the next couple of days. We are also launching a brand new hardware store which is just awesome! I am still trying to fix the voting poll. All this is keeping me from getting to all the patch requests. I will get to them as soon as possible. Please be patient with us. Thanks.

Do a good deed and win a game!                                                      04/08/01 11:00 PM Eastern
  • My wife Jenn is team captain of a 'Relay for Life' cancer fundraising event. Since my new job's policy does not allow soliciting at work, I thought I would try to help her out here. As an incentive ComputerGamers.com will buy a brand new game of choice for the highest donator! It's for a good cause, and it's tax deductible. The American Cancer Society requests a minimum of $10. You can either send us a check or pay us with PayPal. If you pay with PayPal use my address of Webmaster@computergamers.com to make the payment. PayPal also gives you $5 just for signing up. For those of you who don't know what PayPal is, it's what people use to make secure transactions over Ebay all the time. I just used it recently when I made my first Ebay purchase. If you have any hesitations about sending money to us I would be happy to speak to anyone interested on the phone. I hope at least 10 people sign up so that we can at least pay for the prize and give a small donation, but it would be great if a lot more did! Also if you have a loved one who died of, or survived cancer you can have their name put on a candle which will be displayed at the relay the night of June 1st in Virginia Beach, VA. Jenn and I will be placing three candles in honor of our grandparents that have passed away from cancer. Please drop me an email if your planning on sending a check or paying with PayPal so that I can enter you into the contest to win the free game. If you want to make a donation, and not be entered in to the contest just let me know in the email. Sorry if this is too off topic for this site, but I am just trying to help a good cause. Thank you very much on behalf of my wife and I if you do donate. If you want to send a check you can send it to:

If you want to chat my cell phone number is 757-477-2490. Just drop me an email to set up a time to call because it is turned off most of the time. Thank you again to anyone who donates!

  • I got this email yesterday after helping a site reader: you guys are the greatest thanks a million. He even put it in bold. This is the reason I love running this site. So don't hesitate to drop us mail either feedback, or something we can be of assistance with. :)
  • Now that this site is a year old it has grown to about 1800 hits per day. I think it's time for a little upgrade for the site. Now that I have a paying job again and I have a little spending money I am investing some of it into the site. ComputerGamers.com has done well on some of the search engines, but we could never afford to get on all the paid search engines. So I invested a good deal of money in the paid search engines this week, so now we should be listed everywhere. Even within the first hour of getting onto Goto.com today we started getting hits! So I am very excited about the possibility of a lot of new people coming in. I am also thinking of investing a little more money into the site and buying the full version of the current freeware version of our message board.

So please help support our site by visiting our message board, even just to say hi!

  • Geez I guess I owe you SOME gaming news after all that. :)

If you bought Black & White, or plan to make sure you visit Best Buy's website to pick up their free extra character for the game. The extra character is the Gorilla.

  • Sorry, but we temporarily lost our voting poll. I will try to have it back online as soon as I can find the problem. It was a pretty good poll too. :(

Two more scenarios for Operation Flashpoint                              04/05/01 9:30 PM Eastern
  • Here are two more player made scenarios for the demo of Operation Flashpoint. They are both a lot of fun! One is setting an ambush on a Soviet armored convoy, and in the other you get the sniper rifle. They have been out a while now, so I forgot the names of the players who made the maps. Otherwise I would give them credit here. Let me know if you know. Make sure you put them in your missions file of your Operation Flashpoint directory. When you click to start the mission you will hear a beep, and then have to hit the spacebar for the mission to start. In both missions you get to play the leader, and use the command interface. Here are the scenarios: Convoy, and Sniper. If you haven't gotten the demo yet what are you waiting for?! Get it from our demo section.

We need your help with our Gamer's Forum                                   04/02/01 7:30 PM Eastern
  • I am very proud to say that ComputerGamers.com got a little over 69,000 hits last month. Our highest amount since we started almost one year ago. Despite this great success I can't seem to get our message boards motivated. What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions? I would like to see our message boards get active with gamers chatting away. Even giving some games away hasn't seemed to help. I would appreciate any input anyone might have to help get the boards going. Please email me if you have any ideas. Thanks!

  • We have a new poll up now about what games your all looking forward to the most. I want to thank the 108 people who contributed to our last poll. The last poll asked how you rated our site. I am flattered that the number one choice was rating us a 5 (the highest). 27.78% of people voted a rating of 5, and the second highest was 24.07% rating a score of 4. Thanks for the compliment, and to everyone who voted.
  • Tribes 2 shipped Thursday and is in stores now.
