| Emergency Rescue Firefighters |
A game where you control a group of
firefighters and save a city through numerous fire missions, how
could that not be fun? That's what I figured when I picked
up Emergency Rescue Firefighters for only $19.99 at Electronics Boutique. The game
has a ton of potential. However it falls short with several
glitches. The interface of moving firefighters can be very tedious
when trying to get them to go where you want them to. I almost
couldn't complete one mission because I couldn't get my
firefighter up the stairs, he kept running behind the staircase.
The graphics and sound quality are pretty good, and the game is
played from a three quarter overhead perspective.
Overall, the game does a good job of
simulating being a Fire Chief. Although the missions all start to
feel the same, and easy enough that within hours of taking the
game home you have finished it. As a shareware game, this would be
great if the interface were tweaked a little. For $20, it just
lacks enough fun to last awhile. Lupine Games has some interesting
titles looming on the horizon with similar engines to this game.
Let's see if they can make a few improvements in the upcoming
titles, especially Veiled Threat (-Ed's note: It's "on hold"). If so, this company's games will be
on my future buying list.
