This
new real time strategy game is coming to stores this summer.
Since I really prefer historical games over science fiction, I
played the demo with a bit of hesitation. However, I thoroughly
enjoyed the game especially it's incredible battles. The game
has a boot camp training in the beginning to get you going, and
teaches you the interface. The camera is easily moved to give a
quick view of anywhere on the battlefield. The types of units
range from infantry, tanks, air units, and absolutely incredible
artillery units. |
| Every
unit's fire is incredibly realistic with shells flying, tracers,
and realistic flight path of munitions. Watching battles is
amazing, with all the firepower and great effects. The terrain
is completely 3D, and adds a lot to the strategy of the game. At
one point a distant enemy scout kept popping over a hill to take
shots at me, then ducking back down to safety. One added element
in this game that I loved was the addition of the command
vehicle. In most strategy games you play God and look down upon
your troops as they fight and die. In Ground Control, you are in
the command APC. So you must protect it at all costs because if
you die, the mission is over. |
| There
is no resource collecting, or building. At least not in the
missions I played on the demo. The game supports formations for
units, and other tactical varieties. The game does have
multiplayer, but I didn't get a chance to try it. Overall, this
looks like a great game.
